The Hundred Of Ashendon was situated at
Lower End. This pub originally started life as The Red Lion, before changing
name to first The Gatehangers (mid 20th century) and then The Hundred Of
Ashendon, and in so doing becoming a restaurant and small hotel as well as
remaining the village pub. It closed in 2022. |

The pub was bought by the community in December
2024 and reopened with temporary managers. The name was changed (again) to
the Ash Tree. New tenants were appointed with a five-year tenancy from 1
January 2026 and, after a closure in January 2026, will reopen as a pub,
restaurant and b&b. |
