The Rule & Square was situated on Slicketts Lane. This pub was demolished in the 1990s.

Me and a couple of mates used to play for Eddelsbouorgh football club in the early 70’s. We trained every Tuesday and Thursday and afterwards we would go to The Rule & Square for a few beers also the same after a home match. The owners at that time had a Great Dane. The dog was almost as big as a horse it would put its paws on your shoulder and look you square in the eye.
