The Cedars

The Cedars, Hazlemere

The Cedars was situated on Cedar Avenue. This pub was demolished in 2004 and replaced by residential accomodation.

This pub was renamed The Ninepins by the time it had closed in 2003. Additionally, there was a bit of minor local scandal back in 2001 over the new owners fining scheme and a call for a boycott. Don't really remember if that was related to the closure and selling off for flats, more likely the pubco owners realised the property values were high with a very good school just further along Cedar Avenue.

Claira Masterton 2001/2002 My Dad ran this pub for a while, I have great memories there. He somehow went from pub to pub running them (from what I saw) amazingly and bringing such fun to them, I was shocked to see this has become a housing estate since as I wasn’t from the area. He died in 2022 and I had this on my list of pubs to visit. I wonder why this closed down, as when he ran it it was packed from start to finish.
