The Airport Hotel was situated on Newmarket

I believe this pub closed around
the late 1970s to early 1980s. This became necessary when Marshalls
Aerospace took on more security sensitive government contracts, such as
in-flight refuelling systems, for the Falklands War. The bar used to be
behind the three ground floor windows in the above picture. |

Julio Iglesias lived in Cambridge in the 60's
and he performed regularly at the Airport Hotel. He also met there his first
love, Gwendolyn Bollore, the woman who inspired his song "Gwendolyn". |
