George IV

Publicans George & Mary Munns, c1920s

The George IV was situated at the south corner of East Road and Staffordshire Street. An Irish lady by the name of Molly Hogg ran it in the early 1950s, I think she also ran it as a boarding house. Previously c1935, she ran The Haymakers at Chesterton. She was my godmother. This pub closed in 1959 and has now been demolished.
