The Peacock Inn was situated on Church Street and became a private dwelling in the late 1980s.
My family and I rented the Peacock from Dr. Matthias. Our father was a visiting professor on sabbatical at Cambridge University. We lived there from Jan - July of 1977. We loved it very much! Each room had its own coal burning fireplace. There was a lovely piano in the parlor. Out back we would climb over the wall into a field filled with donkeys.

Name Dates Comments A R D Matthias 1971/2003 I bought the Peacock from a brewery in 1971, and helped fund my mortgage by letting it, mainly through the University Society for Visiting Scholars, who sought accommodation for foreign scholars who were coming, with their families, to Cambridge for a sabbatical year.
