The Bell & Oak was situated on Cathedral Square. This grade-II listed pub has now been subsumed into the Queensgate shopping centre.

Listed building details:
C18. 3 storeys. Upper 2 storeys are in rusticated stucco. Parapet with 4 panels. Cornice above the keystones of the 4 windows, which have double hung sashes with glazing bars in moulded frames. The keystones of the 1st floor windows support a band between the storeys. Ground floor of modern brick with 2 doors and modern glazed bow window.

Stephen Hudson 1975 to closure My parents were the landlord and landlady, the last ones before the pub closed down to make way for Queensgate. Me and my new wife had know were to live and mum let us have the pub flat this was our first home. It was in not in good condition so as newly weds the customers chipped in and help to decorate we was all a big family. To date we are 50 years married we have more stories to tell about this
