The Blue Boy was
situated on the High Street.
This
grade-II listed
house has a date stone for 1755. The forward projecting wing is thought to
be a former malt house. Listed in 1952 as the Old Blue Boy Inn. In 1909 a
survey listed the inn with owners as Clissold and Co. Nailsworth and
occupied by Marion Lilly. Reportedly also at one time it was the residence
of the local doctor. Directories I have don’t list it but it seems it was
only regarded as a beerhouse with Charles Dix in the 1871 and 1881 census’
and 1891 to 1903 listings with Thomas Lilly Beerhouse Nailsworth Brewery. |
