An early twentieth century photograph shows the Brewers Arms, advertising “Gales Championship Cup and Gold Medal Ales” brewed just 100 yards down the road, to have been a small establishment in a rural cottage dating from the eighteenth century or earlier. Gales replaced it probably in the 1930s by a compact red brick three roomed pub. By the mid 1990s it had been sold to a pubco and was a busy local with a good range of real ale. However, a decade later more profit could be made by a change of use and by 2012 the pub had been converted to a One Stop convenience store, with a new shop front but easily recognisable as the former pub.
