The Royal Oak was situated on Wimpson Lane.  This pub was demolished in 1965, with a new pub of the same name built on the site. This pub has, in turn, also closed with it now housing a Tesco Express and a fish and chip shop. In the window of the photo below are Jack Hayood, publican, and his two daughters, Dot and Ollie, who became the first tenants of the new pub.
