The Old Castle was situated at 37 High Street.
The premises were famous for the coffin of a former owner, Henry Trigg
grocer, whose coffin was kept in the loft of the barn, in accordance with
his will. The building later became the Old Castle, closing in 1995. When
NatWest bought the Grade II Listed building two years later, Henry was
buried but the coffin stayed where it was. Since 2017, it’s been a dental
surgeon’s. |
