The Volunteer was situated at 158 Darwen Road. This pub closed in 2004 and is now used as an Indian restaurant called the Green Bengal.

Now demolished with a convenience store built on the site.

Steve Bellis	Early 1980s	Great pub with a fantastic atmosphere always something going on, parties, pool matches and darts. Live in Spain the last 16 years but remember lots of good friends I've lost touch with.would be great to hear from them if they remember me. Maybe they all moved down the road to the sportsman pub.
