Wilton Arms

Date of photo: 1960s

The Denton Arms was situated on Manchester Road. This pub was demolished in 1968 for the widening of the A57 into a dual carriageway.
My Grandmother (Mrs Hannah Green) lived in a terraced cottage only a stones throw from the Wilton. As a child in the early 59s, I remember her getting a jug full of beer from the Wilton at weekend. She sent my Father along with an empty enamelled jug and he came back with it full.
