Cross Keys

The Cross Keys was situated on Moor Lane. Also known as the Raven, Rat & Parrot and, at time of closure Einsteins Theory. This pub opened in 1967, the licence being transferred from an earlier Cross Keys pub, situated on Adelphi Street. This pub was closed and demolished in 2007 and replaced by student flats.

Bob Cross 1963/1997 I was a customer at the Cross Keys for 34 years when it was owned by the three brothers Bob, Dick and Ben. Ben was the last of the brothers to die and it was then run by his son Martin but after a few years he died. The pub was then sold and bought by a local builder who is now redeveloping it into a modern country pub
Derren Hanmer 1990/2000 I remember when the pub was burgled around the bank holiday weekend during the Preston Carnival, c1992. My friend's partner worked behind the bar there and I remember her saying that the landlord and landlady were away for the weekend and left her daughter in charge. During the break in the burglars managed to break into the safe and steal over £7000.
