The Plough

The Plough was situated on Blackpool Road. The pub shown was demolished in 1962 and a much larger Plough was built but set back from the road (see below). It was a very popular pub as most of  the traffic to Blackpool had to pass here. A full time cellarman was employed to change barrels as hundreds of coaches called here every week. When the M55 Motorway was built in the 1980's the trade slumped and the pub was demolished around 1993, being replaced by a new estate called Ploughlands.
