The Elephant & Castle was situated at 41-45 Manchester Road.  This Sam Smiths pub closed on 29th June 1969 and was demolished to make way for road widening.

Jim Buckley	1959/1960	My mum and dad, Frank and Sheila Buckley were licencees of the pub in the dates given. My uncle Jack Buckley would "wait on" some nights and also play the piano.
