The Hesketh Arms was situated at 109 Shevington
Moor. |

This pub was bought by Wainhomes a few
years after it closed, with a view to demolishing it and building new homes
on the site. The local residents resisted this by involving a local MP and
pressuring Wigan Council to preserve the building. English Heritage then
listed the pub Grade II, based on its age (circa 1650) and historic
significance. It was sold to a private owner in 2011 who has renovated the
the badly vandalised building into a residence. |
