The Cart & Horses was situated at 1 Maryland Point. This pub closed in 2019 and is to be converted into flats. Most of the work has ceased due to safety issues regarding Network Rail, due to close proximity to the main Great Eastern railway line. Heavy metal band Iron Maiden played some of their earliest gigs here from 1975 until around 1978.
Although construction of new flats is still continuing at the rear and above the premises, the bar opened on 12th March 2022, with a new basement bar for live music.
