The Ram Tavern
was situated
at 26 North Woolwich Road. This
was a Truman's pub and is now a nightclub called the Guvnor Bar which is
open from 10pm to 3am Thursday to Sunday. The address is now Bell Lane Off
Dock Road but the post code is still London E16 2AB. |

I was 11 or 12. At that time, the publican had a huge train layout in an
upstairs room. Me and my mate, Danny Hickey, were very into Hornby
Trainsets, and were asked to do some work on the layout. The best I
remember was dismantling a part of the layout. Typically, at or near
Christmas, there would be a surge of custom (obviously) as the workers
at Tates' got their Christmas Bonus. Both my dad, and two of my brothers
worked there. |
