Bath Arms

The Bath Arms was situated at 48 Devonport Street. My great grandfather, Herbert Downes, ran this pub from the 1890s to the 1920s.

My great grandfather Herbert Downes ran this pub at the start of the 20th century. My Mother used to sit on the bar and play the harmonica when she was young , and my Father used to go there because he fancied my Mother. He was a non drinker at the time, but he had to drink something in the pub, So he started on the alcohol. They were married in September 1928.
