The Market House was situated at 30-32 Broadway
Market, and is now used as a cafe bar. |

The Market House was established by
1871 and was a Watney’s Brewery pub. In around 1990 it was sold to Belhaven
and soon followed the familiar route to closure taken by the majority of
London pubs acquired by Belhaven; closing
in this case in 1999. There have been a number of redevelopment plans for
the property, which has nevertheless remained resolutely empty and near derelict
for much of the subsequent period despite
the huge revival in popularity of Broadway Market. |
