The Alderman was situated at 37 Stannary Street.
This pub
closed c2003 and has now been converted into a house. |

My father
built the house that stands next to what was the pub in I think 1970. In the
1970s, the Alderman was run by a late middle-aged married cockney couple
called Ron and Kit. Until Ron died of a heart attack, and Kit retired
somewhere in southwest England. The left hand part of the pub looking at the
photo was the public bar, and the right hand part was the saloon bar. |
