Union Tavern

The Union Tavern was situated at 11 Bunton Street. This pub closed in 2003 and has now been demolished.

The Union Tavern used to do good beer and the best pub lunch in Woolwich - it was always full. We used to go into Woolworths and out the back door to the Union. Shame it went.

Gregory Brown 1971/1980 Customer. Almost opposite The Union, in McBean Street was Woolwich Polytechnic Boys School. When us scholars reached the 6th Form, we used to spend lunchtimes in there (1970-72). After those dates, our Old Boys Association used to hold their monthly meetings there up until about 1980. Great beer and friendly pub.
