In the days when Norbury Council was separate
from the London council, the Sussex was the first pub in London and the
Norbury Hotel was the last in Norbury (the only one in Norbury). As it
approached closing time, 10pm, in the Norbury Hotel many customers would
wander down the high street crossing the River Wandel which was the boundary
with London and the Sussex on the bank on London side where closing time was
11pm + a bit more. |
