Valerie Kelly 1952/1957 My father James Henry White was the licensee at this time.We spent many happy years here as a family of five - mum, dad, myself and two younger sisters. The bar was horseshoe shaped as I recall, and in the corner was a "dumb waiter" that could be pulled up and down to bring food from the kitchen.
Giles Lane 1984 I used to work and board in this pub. As Valerie Kelly stated, the bar, in my time was still a horseshoe and the dumb waiter was present. Great local pub, young & old customers. I remember we used to do individual cottage pies that were heated up in the microwave, not cordon bleu, but very tasty.
James Maddison 1987/1988 Worked in this pub in the mid to late 80s. I'm an Aussie guy and this was the first place I worked at in London. Such good fun and a real culture shock for me. I remember at the end of the night thge landlord would try and get everyone moving by yelling "Its a pub, not a club". Great memories and great people too.
Jenny Swan 1988/1990 I’m Aussie, worked at USA bank during week then @ pub usually Thurs & Sat nights. It had the horseshoe bar & I think publican was Andy. I lived in Balvernie Grove then Limes Gardens. I recall some of the patrons, Chris Hardinge (he worked as a designer on All Creatures Great & Small). Brig (Brian wore a wig) he offered to marry me as I did overstay visa by 2.5 yrs. Good times & some weird drinks.
