The Crown Inn was voted "The best pub in Northumberland" in 2023 and 2024, the landlord announced its closure "with immediate effect" on 6 Jan 2026, saying the "ever-increasing costs have made the business unsustainable". Noted for its annual Tractor Days and "supercar days" for Ferrari and McLaren Owners' clubs, most recently it hosted BBC Radio DJ Sara Cox during her "Children in Need Challenge".
