building details: |
Inn and adjoining cottage and store room.
Late C18/early C19; not of one build. Regular coursed ironstone, with
irregular quoins, and brick to rear. Slate roofs; Rose and Crown Inn has
gable parapets; brick end stacks. Inn: L-plan. 3 storeys, 3-window range.
Flush 6-panelled door with overlight and hood on shaped brackets. Ground
floor has canted bays; 16-pane sashes on ground and first floor. Second
floor has leaded light casements. Upper floors have painted wood lintels.
Rear mainly of brick. Long irregular rear wing of stone and brick. Cottage
range lower. Double-depth plan. 3 storeys; 2-window range. High carriage
opening with plank doors. Plank door on left with adjoining
window. Casements, mostly with glazing bars. Second floor has one leaded
light. To rear external brick staircase to store room. Interior not
inspected. |
