The Newlands Inn was situated at 45-47 Newland Street. This grade-II listed pub closed in 2021.
 

 
Listed building details:
House, now public house. Early/mid C18. Coursed limestone rubble with dressed quoins; gabled C20 tile roof; ridge and end stacks of stone finished in brick; brick left end stack. 4-unit plan. 2 storeys and attic; 4-window range. Timber lintels over central late C19 four-panelled door with gabled hood, C19 horned 8-pane sashes and first-floor C20 casements; timber lintel and gabled hood over late C19 plank door set in heavy pegged frame to left. Roof dormers with C20 casements. Interior: stop-chamfered beams, and open fireplace with bressumer to left. First floor not inspected.”
