The Queens Head was situated at 43 Church Street. Following demolition of the pub, the wife of former Prime Minister Herbert Asquith bought a newly-built property 'The Wharf', in 1911, with financial assistance from JP Morgan, the American banker. Herbert Asquith eventually died there.
