For many years through the 1950s and
into the sixties it was kept by Jim and Kath Simnett. It was renowned for
its flower and vegetable shows through this period. I lived next door to The
Sportsman from 1956 until its closure - I left there to get wed in 1968, and
it still remained my local. In the 1970’s, should you require the use of a
cubicle in the gents, request for the key from behind the bar ! |
