The Royal Standard was situated on the corner of Alma Street and High Street. This pub and surrounding buildings were all demolished in the 1960s as part of the City’s urban regeneration scheme (slum clearance). The area where this pub once stood is now part of a traffic island with an underpass that carries the Birchfield Road / High Street dual carriageway.
