The Green Man was situated at 72 Poplar High Street.
There was a Green Man
in Poplar High Street as early as 1650, although until at least 1729 it
stood a little further down the street. By 1899 it stood out as a very
old, weather-boarded pub, in the ownership of Taylor Walker Brewery.
It was rebuilt in 1904 and again in 1939, the latter time once more on a
slightly different site. In around 1985 the pub was renamed Carty’s.
It closed and was demolished in 2003. Flats have now been built on the site. |
